April 5th 2025 - track and Junior Prom

Well this past Saturday turned out to be a busy, busy day. Ben and I were up by 6am so Ben could drop Lucy off at the school for her to take the bus up to Junction for her track meet. Ben and I (and Brigham) went on a nice, longish run and then got back, quickly got ready, and headed up to Junction ourselves so we could watch Lucy's meet. Lucy did her classic three events: long-jump, 100-meter dash, and the 4x100 relay. She didn't qualify on her jump, she took 22nd out of 69 on the dash, and their team took 3rd on the relay, with another PR for them. Yay. It was fun to watch and it was cool to see Lucy holding her own as a wee-little freshman. :) 

We took Lucy from the meet early (but she'd finished all her events so no biggie) and grabbed some late lunch in Junction. Then we headed home, just long enough for Lucy to freshen up and us to get gas in the car. Then it was to Storm King Ranch (about 20 minutes south of town), where Emmy's prom group was taking pictures. 

It was cold when the sun was behind the clouds, and not-so-cold when the sun shone. But it was also breezy, soooo . . . it was a typical spring weather all in like 1-hour. :) Pictures were fun and went well. The pictures I'll post are just from my camera, but there were a couple adults there taking pictures with their nice non-phone cameras. :)

From there, we headed back home - picking up our groceries and Berry's meds on our way. We were basically home long enough to unload groceries . . . and then head back out. The Grand March was at 7 and so we wanted to get a good seat for that. We had fun watching all the kids (well, not all the kids do it, but most/a lot?) come out - especially Aidan and Emmy. They were cute. :)

We finally got home around 8pm and that was basically it for old Ben and I. Emmy got home at 1am and chatted with us for awhile about the night. Sounds like all-in-all, it was a successful prom! Yay.

Emmy had a lot going on with prom. The girls all met around 11:30 at one of the girls' house where they were getting their hair done, make-up on, etc., etc. Then their boyfriends picked them up and they went to the ranch for pictures. After pictures, it was on to another girls' house for dinner. From there, the Grand March. Then the dance (both of which were at the Pavilion). After the dance, which Emmy said was a lot of fun, the group went out to Taco Bell - in their prom attire. :) Emmy came home briefly to change and then they headed up to one of the kids' house - but by then it was close to curfew, so they ended up not going in and just came back home ha. But it seemed like Emmy had a good time, as well as Aidan - so fun for them!

Here are just a few random pictures that didn't get their own post . . . 

Track season is going well for Lucy. I was able to go to her last meet up in Hotchkiss. She ended up taking 15th on the 100-meter dash, out of 70 girls. Sooooo good! Then, her 4x100 relay team not only took 1st place at the meet (thus winning them all their cute tshirts they're wearing), but they also got a new school record. You go girls! So that was really exciting and fun for Lucy.

Emmy and Aidan and his promposal. Cute, cute. Prom is this Saturday and Emmy is pretty excited for it!
