The girls had their home meet last night and it was a pretty good night. Not their best nor favorite, but they did well! Aidan and Patton (plus Patton's mom, Amy) came as well. I enjoyed visiting with Amy - as well as watching my girls, of course!
Since it's the home meet, our team gets to go in Olympic order . . . so vault, bars, beam, and then floor. Both girls did really well on vault - Emmy getting possibly her highest vault score ever? She got a 9.35 and would go on to take 1st in that event. Lucy got a great score as well - a 9.1 and earned a 3rd-place. Bars was pretty good for both girls, too. Although Emmy wasn't thrilled with her performance and/or score. Emmy got an 8.95 and took 3rd and Lucy got an 8.6 and took 6th.
Beam . . . this is where it fell apart for Emmy darn it. Her warm-up was sooooo good! But then she didn't make her first flight connection (back handspring to a back walkover) and so she attempted to do it again (if you miss that connection, your starting value is a 9.5). Unfortunately she fell on her back handspring. Her jumps weren't as solid as in her warm-up and then she fell on her full-turn. She was not happy and shed a few tears afterwards. It may have helped a little bit that two other very solid and excellent gymnasts on her team fell twice as well on beam . . . such a bummer for them, though. Her score was a 7.0 and thus that put her out of a solid all-around placement. Lucy's beam was great and solid - but her score wasn't quite as high as usual for reasons we don't know!? She got an 8.85 and took 5th (not to brag, but to be honest - Lucy is usually 1st or 2nd in beam and this routine was very similar to all of those ones . . .).
Then it was on to floor. Again, Lucy hit a very great and solid routine - but didn't quite get the score we thought she would - another 8.85. I mean, two weeks ago she did almost the exact same routine and got an 9.45. Weird and a bit of a bummer for Lucy. But she looked awesome! She got 7th. Emmy hit a great floor routine and ended up with a 9.05, taking 2nd. As for all-around, Lucy and Emmy both got 4th. :) So not bad at all, but just a bit bummed with some of the scores and with beam, of course, for Emmy. But the girls seemed happy enough and afterwards went out with the boys and Lucy's bestie, Ruby, to Culver's. All in all, a great evening.

I stole a couple of pictures from Lucy's Instagram . . .
Senior night/last meet for Audrey. She was a beautiful and amazing gymanst and inspired my girls for sure!
