Legacy Meet

This was Emmy's 4th meet of the season and Lucy's 2nd - but was my first meet watching them (due to travel meets, Sunday meets for Emmy, etc.). So I was excited to finally see them in person. Emmy was really hoping (and needing) a good meet - she's had decent meets with some 1st and 2nd places, but her all-around has been lacking (mainly because of low beam scores). So she was just wanting to do good and so I was praying for her extra-hard the whole week. :)

Just as a side-note: Emmy competes in the highest level, Diamond while Lucy is in the next highest, Platinum. Different skill requirements, etc.

The girls invited their boyfriends to come and watch and so that was fun - and nerve-racking for the girls! But the boys must have been good-luck charms . . . at least Aidan for Emmy . . . Spoiler alert, but Emmy ended up taking 1st-place all-around! Yay! She's been working so hard and just really needed this boost and so that was awesome. Lucy didn't score as well as she wanted on bars (a high cast led to a poorly-executed back-hip circle and she actually didn't get credit for the skill at all because, well, her hips touched the bar thus negating it being a back-hip circle haha) . But Lucy still ended up with an awesome 3rd-place all-around finish because she was so solid on all the other events.

Emmy's review: She did the best vault I have seen her do with this skill (front-handspring full twist). She ended up taking 1st on vault. Bars she did great and ended up with a 2nd-place finish. Beam she didn't fall, but apparently didn't get connection credit for her flight series and so her routine began at a 9.5 rather than a 10 (but her connection was so there - if it were state, the coaches would have fought that call . . .). But she got an okay score! She had a great floor routine with a great score (9.3) but didn't even place. High scores were being handed out on floor . . . But, like mentioned already, she earned 1st all-around and had her highest all-around score of the season. She was so happy and how fun to have Aidan see her perform and do so well!

Lucy didn't have her best vault - I mean it was good and got a decent score, but she just had a few more steps than normal for her. It's a hard vault and so kuddos to her for going for it both times. Bars I have already mentioned . . . Beam she was solid! Her teammates (at least 5 or 6 of them) had all fallen, or missed connections, and all gotten low scores. The highest score before Lucy was an 8.3. Well Lucy crushed it, as she usually does on beam, and got a 9.05 - earning a 4th-place overall finish. Her floor was great and peppy and fun and she got a 9.45 - earning her 1st on that event, yay! Then 3rd all-around which was awesome and fun, again, to have Patton there. :)

The meet got over at 10:15 - pm. . . so late! Ugh. Then we have to drive all the way home. We rode up separately, and Ben and I got home around 11:30. The kids got special permission to be out later and went to Denny's and then came home.

Here's the video link to Emmy's event. And here's the link to Lucy's.
